Burnt Mountain Designs has been setting a new direction in telemark bindings since the introduction of the Telebulldog binding in 2002. This new, simple, effective design has been another dimension to telemark binding technology. By creating a hinging the toe box, Louis Dandurand, inventor of the binding, was able to incorporate some important features into telemark ski bindings. |

Dandurand felt that too much emphasis on
new binding developments were being placed on
spring compression and heel parts. Despite various spring and heel piece
designs, the problems with telemark bindings remain the effectively the
same: cumbersome entry and need for safety straps to prevent runaway
ski. He, instead, focused on the development of a new toe box that solves some of these problems. By
pivoting the toe box against a fixed position base, Dandurand was able
to develop a simple step-in toe piece that adds unique functionality to telemark ski bindings. |
